5 Question Friday

I've not done this, but thought I'd give it a try. Play along....
Quick run down of the rules...copy and paste the following questions to your blog, answer them, grab the MckLinky BlogHop code and link up! Oh, and if you don't have a blog, but want to join in, just leave me your answers in my comments!

1. What celebrity have you been told you look like?
2. What is your all time favorite movie, any special reason why?
3. Since we're talkin' movies...Popcorn: overrated, underrated, or 'bout right?
4. Are you a glass half empty or half full kinda person?
5. What perfume/cologne do you wear?

1. I've been told that I look like Joan Lunden.

2. I really like Steele Magnolias. Maybe it's having grown up in the south and the fact that there are people from my area that were in the film as extras. Funny movie, at any rate.

3. Popcorn - love it at the movies, but we rarely get it. If we do, we split it because we're cheap! : ) However, movie nights at home require popcorn.

4. I'd say half-full most of the time.

5. My perfume is usually nonexistent. I'm sensitive to scents so I end up feeling miserable if I wear the wrong one. I LOVE Clinique Happy. Unfortunately, it's not one of those scents that makes my nose happy! A light Bath and Body spray usually works in a pinch.

Adventures

I really didn't intend to take a blogging hiatus - it just happened! The end of the school year...aka the month of May...was super busy. I kept telling myself it would all slow down once summer got here. Not so! June kicked-off with a garage sale, swimming lessons, VBS and then a trip to Louisiana for the older boys to go to camp and help my folks get their house ready for selling. Since arriving back in Texas, it has taken a good week to get "back in the swing" of things.

Speaking of swing, July 6 was the starting date for Austin's first round of tennis lessons. He's been wanting to learn for some time now and has been convinced it's easy since playing on Pawpaw's Wii! He only goes two mornings a week for the month of July and so far, he's loved it. A bonus is that his little friend from his class last year is also in the class and we are getting to know his family better. We are carpooling to lessons and the boys are getting to spend some time together after lessons. I have to say that I have been totally blessed by this new friendship. J is Korean and after a brief visit on Monday, found out that she is a second generation Christian. His Dad is a fourth generation. It was so cool to listen to her story and learn about their journey. They wanted to find friends that are Christians and, in her words, "Don't just say Christian, but worship and live it." Wow! I'm looking forward to getting to know them all better.

Adventure. Every day with my middle son, P. He is his own drummer for sure! He has "killed" us with his comments and observations and I'm trying to write them down. My sister-in-law says I need to save them and write a book. My thought is that no one would believe he said them. However, you cannot make this stuff up! He's a sample.
We were heading out one evening last week to let the boys play at McD's and chill (so hot outside). P headed to the truck and was settled. I walked out, opened the overhead garage door and got in. He said, "Hey, I was going to do that." Monty and the other boys got settled, he backed out and we were on our way - almost. No garage clicker in the console. We looked and looked. He asked both boys if they had seen it. Austin had found the clip that holds it on the visor, but no actual clicker. Monty got out to get mine from my vehilce. While he was out, I kept looking. I decided to "pat down" P just in case. What in the world? Something small and "bumpy" in his shirt.
The clicker! He looked at me and said, "How did that get in there?" It was so hard not to laugh...which I did. He said, "What's Dad going to do to me?" I said, "well, he's probably going to kill you!" Laughing the entire time! Monty got in the truck and I told him what had happened. More laughing!

Yesterday. I'm taking a shower after working out. "A" comes to me and says that P has been spraying my cleaner on the chair. I'm not sure what he could have found since it all stays put away. When I got out to check on it, I could smell the citrus scent of Pledge. He had swiffered the back of our recliner with Pledge. He kept saying his mouth tasted funny - I called Poison control, just to be safe. He's fine. He's a mess.

The last one for now. After prayers one night, P looks at me and says, "why is Jesus' last name 'Amen?'" Where does he come up with this?

We are headed out to a family reunion this weekend and then moving my folks here next week. It's going to be a long week, but full of memories and blessings! I'm sure their will be more stories when we return. : )

He can hear!

Tomorrow is our two week mark since Reagan's surgery for tubes in his ears. His pre-op hearing test was within normal limits, but he was also completely fluid free that day. On the day of surgery, he did have some fluid. In that two week time period, we are seeing some changes. He is repeating things that we are saying, especially things he hears his brothers saying (have to worry about that one a little!). Wednesday morning he was eating breakfast and turned to look around when a plane flew over. He has NEVER acknowledged anything from outside like that. This morning, he was going to push the garage door button and I said, "button." He looked at me and then the opener and said, "buttum." SWEET! It's not just about being the third child! We are very thankful to see this language improvement. He's quite proud of himself, too.

His favorite thing right now has everything to do with balls. Golf, baseball, soccer....
He doesn't want the plastic/play version of anything, he wants the real thing. Monty was working with him and kept trying to give him a plastic golf ball and club. Reagan stamped his little feet, threw his head back and pointed at the "baball" in Monty's pocket. Yes, the fits need some work, but the fact he knows what he wants is very fun to watch.

Busy weekend ahead...single mom duties, baseball tomorrow night, maybe a cousin's soccer game Saturday. Who knows? We are just going to have fun!
Blessings!

Where does time go?

Wow! Is it really April? So much for resolving to blog on a regular basis. This has been a busy year and spring. April is busy, if for nothing else, the two birthdays we have around here! My oldest will be 7 (how is that possible!?) and my middle will be 4. (although he insists that his is going to be 9!) That kid!

The end of this week brings some resolution for R and his recurrent ear issues. Since December, he's either had ear infections, or constant fluid. The crazy thing, is that he can be on meds for one ear and when we recheck, the other ear will either be infected, or is about to be. I'm fearful we are dealing with some resistance in those ears and it's time to get tubes! We go in Friday morning to get the little guy taken care of. I'm really interested to see what this does for his language development. I really will post about it!

We are blessed with employment, health, family and friends....if you have stopped by here, be sure to click on the Stellan link (I need to update it, but would have to search for directions!). He is really struggling with his heart and needs so many prayers! I hug my boys and am so thankful that they are blessed with health that we take for granted!

Blessings on your week...it is going to be busy around here. Great things ahead!

New Year

We survived the holiday season! What a busy, busy time. It seems that from the end of Thanksgiving until Christmas was especially short this year and it made for creative time management. We managed to get it done and get to Abilene and spend most of the week with Monty's family. It was fun for all of the cousins to be together. Unfortunately, this was "our year" to spread germs. I came down with "the crud." Reagan seems to be the only one that really caught it. He's getting over an ear infection now.

Santa was good to everyone. Our gift to the boys is a trip to Disney World for spring break. We are very excited. My parents are going to meet us there. Since we will have reinforcements, we are taking all three boys. We are going to make a calendar to count down to the trip. Peyton asks at least once a day - "is today March?"

Reagan is now fully mobile. He has really amazed me in that not only did he start walking and do it well, he is running and standing from a sitting position already. It's as if he was watching and making a plan. Now he's executing his plan!

I'll get some pics up soon from the holiday. I don't feel like messing with blogger tonight. I want to post our card picture. By the way, if you normally get our card, you still will. I'm just very late in getting them out. I guess since it's a new year, I'm early!

Ha! How's that for perspective!?
Blessings!
